doctorwho:

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!

This is it! The episode we’ve all been waiting for and our last Saturday livetumblring announcement of the season. It seems so soon and yet we’ve been through so much (and we’re only speaking of the past week!)

In less than 10 minutes, the UK will see the season finale of Doctor Who Series 7: The Name of the Doctor.
Six hours later, the US and Canada will have their debut and then Australia about 10 hours after that.
(See the full worldwide schedule here.)
We will be livetumblring tonight’s 8pm ET BBC America Premiere of The Name of the Doctor.

We’ll be online from 8/7c until the end of the broadcast reblogging your gifs and fan art and reactions as we find them on the tags ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘The Name of the Doctor.’

If you haven’t been here for a livetumblring before, it’s where we blog moments from the episode just as they’re happening on the broadcast.

And we’re sorry. We’re so sorry but because we’re livetumblring in real time — there is no way for us to avoid posting spoilers.

If you’re going to be liveposting any of these broadcasts be sure to let your followers know (and tag your posts as spoilers!)

We’ll be using the tags ‘spoilers’ ‘dw spoilers’ and ‘The Name of the Doctor’. If you can’t watch the episode until later this weekend, you can avoid spoilers by installing Tumblr Savior for your browser. Trust us: you’ll be happy you did.

If you’re using the Tumblr mobile app or if the Tumblr Savior stuff is too much to deal with, consider unfollowing us and then refollowing us after you watch the episode.

After Doctor Who, there will be a new episode of Orphan Black on BBC America and Space Channel at 9p EDT, and at 10p on BBC America, it’s a new episode of The Nerdist.
If all goes well, if all goes according to plan, we’ll have something special to post after the broadcast aside from the behind the scenes videos and storyboards and production galleries…
… and of course, we’re talking about the new clip featuring the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors!!!!!!!

In the meantime, it’s Doctor Who Day which means that we’re reblogging your Season Finale setup pics. What are you wearing? What are you eating? Who are you with? We want to know.

There’s still also time for you to get your autograph in for our wall at the Doctor Who Tumblr office at BBC America... Make us a fan sign, some fan art, a selfie with your Tumblr url. Post it to your blog. Submit it through this form. We’re collecting all of them to make a poster out of it for everyone to see whenever they come through the New York office of BBC America — Doctor Who cast, crew, writers, the BBC America staff, and us. You are special and amazing and we want people to know this.

So that’s it! Today is a big day. Message us if you have questions. In the meantime, we’re going to get going!

98 year old dobri dobrev, a man who lost his hearing in the second world war, walks 10 kilometers from his village in his homemade clothes and leather shoes to the city of sofia, where he spends the day begging for money.

though a well known fixture around several of the city’s churches, known for his prostrations of thanks to all donors, it was only recently discovered that he has donated every penny he has collected — over 40,000 euros — towards the restoration of decaying bulgarian monasteries and churches and the utility bills of orphanages, living instead off his monthly state pension of 80 euros.

This guy is so… awesome. Amazing. Inspiring.

OK crying. restored faith in humanity…

brb crying.

cryptidsandoddities:

In late December of 2003, security cameras at Hampton Court Palace, a huge tudor castle near London, captured a startling image. Security guards were unsettled to repeatedly find a fire door open when no one was apparently around. Upon checking the security tape, they were shocked by a ghostly figure, closely resembling King Henry VIII (who died in the 1500s).
Vikki Wood, a spokesperson for the Palace, said “We’re baffled too—it’s not a joke, we haven’t manufactured it. We genuinely do not know who it is or what it is.” They aren’t a ppc company, or even a company looking to gain from this oddity; they are just as baffled like most people who look at this footage.
A security officer, James Faukes, called the incident “unnerving,” and said they’d ruled out their costumed guides. “In fact, they don’t even own a costume like the one worn by the figure on the video. It was incredibly spooky because the face just didn t look human,” Faukes said.

Wings

Movement and interactive relationship with the body has been the most important element throughout my body of work. However through these works, I also started to explore the mechanical structure as a form. Mechanical structure becomes the most enjoyable form to me as it becomes complex yet remains simple and coherent. The contrast between metal structural form and natural feather, together with the repetitive and whimsical movements of fragile wings, provokes the imagination and evolves the intimate relationship between work and viewer/wearer. Although the recent series, segmented wings have been focused on the formal challenge to engineer an intricate movement that simulates bird wings, these works are intended to be a series of poems in which I develope my own formal language, interpret the nature of wings, create various structural forms with movements, and share the metaphor, imagination, humor, with viewer/wearer.
